I had a great experience with Taj Mahal Cabs. The driver was kind, friendly, and picked us up right on time (actually, even a bit early!). A local guide was already waiting for us at the Taj Mahal. We had lunch at a nice restaurant and visited some very interesting local craft shops. Also, the communication via WhatsApp was excellent—they replied quickly and provided all the information I needed. Highly recommend!

We had an amazing experience with this company. The owner, Babloo, helped to arrange drivers and guides in Agra, from Agra to Jaipur, out and back to Pushkar, and then back to Delhi. Babloo was very communicative on WhatsApp and helped us to change our itinerary mid-trip. All of the cars were clean and air conditioned, the drivers were skilled, safe, and timely, and our guides were very knowledgeable. We especially appreciated Babloo’s understanding that we did not want to pushed into shopping at stores where guides are on commission, and his working with our guides and drivers to ensure that did not happen. I give Taj Mahal Cabs 5 stars, 10/10 service, and will recommend them to anyone touring the Golden Triangle.

🕌 1. The Taj Mahal – India’s Crown Jewel

No visit to India is complete without witnessing the Taj Mahal, a timeless masterpiece and one of the most iconic Agra tourist attractions. Built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, this UNESCO World Heritage Site symbolizes eternal love.

For American travelers, the best time to visit Agra and see the Taj Mahal is at sunrise, when the marble glows in shades of gold and pink — a dream for photographers. Booking a private taxi or guide in Agra ensures you skip long lines and enjoy a deeper understanding of its history and architecture.

👉 Reserve a comfortable day trip through Taj Mahal Cabs for the most efficient and hassle-free visit.

🏰 2. Agra Fort – A Walk Through Mughal Royalty

Just a few miles from the Taj Mahal lies the majestic Agra Fort, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. This red sandstone fortress, once the seat of Mughal power, showcases stunning Mughal architecture — with palaces, courtyards, and marble mosques inside.

From the fort’s balconies, you can even glimpse the Taj Mahal shimmering in the distance. For Americans interested in history, this site offers a glimpse into the grandeur and politics of medieval India.

Combine it with a same-day tour using Taj Mahal Cabs, which includes guided visits to both the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort.

🌅 3. Mehtab Bagh – The Perfect Sunset Viewpoint

If you want the perfect photograph of the Taj Mahal, head across the river to Mehtab Bagh, also known as the “Moonlight Garden.” This serene spot offers a quiet escape from crowds and provides a picture-perfect view of the monument, especially at sunset.

Many photographers and American tourists find this hidden gem one of the most relaxing things to do in Agra — away from the hustle of the city.

🏛️ 4. Fatehpur Sikri – The Abandoned Mughal Capital

Located about 40 km from Agra, Fatehpur Sikri is an architectural marvel and another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built by Emperor Akbar, this once-thriving capital city is now a ghost town of grand palaces, mosques, and courtyards.

Highlights include Buland Darwaza, one of the world’s tallest gateways, and the Tomb of Salim Chishti, a revered Sufi saint. For Americans seeking an authentic cultural journey, this site adds depth to your understanding of India’s heritage.

You can add Fatehpur Sikri to your itinerary as part of an extended day trip from Delhi with Taj Mahal Cabs, ensuring you explore safely and comfortably.

🪶 5. Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah – The “Baby Taj”

Often called the Baby Taj, this delicate marble tomb inspired the design of the Taj Mahal. Built for Mirza Ghiyas Beg (father of Mumtaz Mahal), it’s famous for its intricate inlay work and serene gardens.

For first-time visitors using an Agra travel guide for Americans, this spot offers a peaceful retreat away from crowds — perfect for photography and quiet reflection. It’s one of the lesser-known yet most elegant Agra heritage sites.

🕌 6. Akbar’s Tomb, Sikandra – The Emperor’s Resting Place

The Tomb of Akbar the Great in Sikandra is a blend of Hindu, Islamic, and Persian design — a true reflection of India’s cultural harmony. Spread over lush green lawns, it’s an excellent stop on your way back from Agra to Delhi.

Architecture lovers and history enthusiasts will appreciate the grand gateways, calligraphy, and detailed red sandstone carvings that make this site one of Agra’s underrated architectural marvels.

🕌 7. Jama Masjid – A Living Heritage

Built by Shah Jahan’s daughter, Jahanara Begum, Jama Masjid remains one of India’s largest mosques. Its massive domes and marble inlay work highlight the Mughal architectural style that defines Agra’s skyline.

Visitors should dress modestly and explore during prayer-free hours for a tranquil experience. For American travelers, it’s a spiritual highlight among the top 10 places to visit in Agra, offering a glimpse into the city’s living culture.

🎨 8. Chini Ka Rauza – The Persian-Tiled Wonder

For those who love art and color, Chini Ka Rauza stands out with its vibrant Persian-style glazed tiles. Built as the tomb of poet Afzal Khan, it’s one of Agra’s most offbeat attractions.

Include it in your Agra sightseeing tour to experience a different side of the city — one that showcases the cross-cultural exchanges of the Mughal Empire.

🛍️ 9. Agra’s Local Bazaars – A Shopper’s Paradise

No trip is complete without exploring Agra’s bustling markets. Sadar Bazaar and Kinari Bazaar are filled with handcrafted souvenirs — from marble inlay work and leather goods to the famous Agra Petha (a local sweet).

Your driver from Taj Mahal Cabs can help you navigate these markets safely and even recommend local eateries for an authentic culinary experience. Shopping here not only supports local artisans but also gives you memorable keepsakes from your trip.

🐻 10. Agra Bear Rescue Facility – A Heartwarming Experience

Managed by Wildlife SOS, the Agra Bear Rescue Facility is located inside Sur Sarovar Bird Sanctuary. It’s home to sloth bears rescued from cruel dancing practices and now living freely in a natural habitat.

For families and ethical travelers, it’s a heart-touching stop that reflects India’s growing commitment to wildlife protection.

🌞 Bonus: Best Time to Visit Agra

For the most comfortable experience, the best time to visit Agra is from October to March. Temperatures are pleasant, and visibility is ideal for sunrise and sunset photography. Avoid peak summer months (April–June) when it can get extremely hot.

🚗 Getting to Agra from Delhi Airport

If you’re landing in Delhi and have limited time, the most convenient option is a private day trip to Agra.

  • By car: Around 3.5 hours (one way) via the Yamuna Expressway — smooth and scenic.
  • By train: The Gatimaan Express takes about 90 minutes from Delhi to Agra Cantt Station.

However, most American travelers prefer booking a private taxi with an English-speaking driver for comfort, safety, and flexibility. A full-day round-trip tour from Delhi starts around USD 95–120 per person, including transfers, fuel, and driver service.
